    GIVE THE GIFT OF IGTM

Since releasing the film, we’ve heard a lot of stories of people using the movie to show others in their lives why they love video games.   Or using IGTM to explain what they actually do as a designer, programmer, web developer or just creative person in general.

People have been going to loved ones, neighbors, co-workers and saying...

Among other things, IGTM is a 90 minute crash course in the what it feels like to whole-heartedly dedicate yourself to a creative project.  What it means to love video games.  And what it can be like to live a creative life in the age of the Internet.  People want to share this, and we want to help with that.

So, we decide to make something fun and simple that could make that sharing process a little bit easier...

    IGTM GIFTPACKS

The concept is pretty straightforward.  This is a no-frills, gift-able physical DVD copy of the film - completely ready for you to customize and give to your mother, father, girlfriend, boyfriend, grandparents, the woman that lives down the hall, friends of the family that never quite got it.

Just fill out their name and hand it over.

The Giftable DVD has the following features:

    • The full theatrical version of IGTM
    • The full ‘Family Friendly’ version of IGTM
    • Customizable sleeve packaging, with spaces for 'To:' & 'From:'
    • English, French, Spanish & Portuguese subtitles
    • No crazy menus, no extras, no digital DL to mess with - just pop it in and press play.

They are available for $7.99 each or a 3 pack for $19.99.

    PICK THEM UP HERE.

    Hope you like it.

    -Lisanne & James

p.s. This is kind of an odd idea, let us know if you like it.  Also, if you have a story about sharing the film, we would absolutely love to hear about it.

A Closer Look at the Box Set...

    Hey Everyone,

Earlier this week, we revealed the different versions of the Special Edition coming soon. Today, we wanted to give you a better look at the art of Limited Edition box set.

When we started thinking about the box set design, we really wanted it to be a celebration of the movie. An object that celebrated the developers, the games, the film's big-hearted spirit and become a physical piece of art in itself.

That was our hope when we asked Edmund McMillen to design some art for the cover. But, we just told him:  ‘Do whatever you want’

So, without really talking about it, he was totally on the same page.  In the course of a week, Ed delivered this amazing, overwhelming, joyous explosion of cover art that was everything we could have wanted and more.  Here’s a statement from Ed...

"I wanted to make a cover that felt very inclusive and showcased the seemingly endless amount of creativity flowing from a very large number of people who have inspired me and kept me going all these years.

I also wanted the cover to feel like a game in some small way. It started as a "Where's Waldo-type" design but quickly turned into an indie-cred "name that indie game" game. It felt very appropriate to have that extra amount of depth to the cover."

In transforming Ed's art into all the package elements for the Box set, we worked closely with graphic designer, Chris Pointon. (Many thanks to him for all his patience & help!)

Together, we joined Ed’s 250+ indie game character interpretations with the essence of the original poster art created by Greg Wohlwend, and nods to Cory Schmitz’s album cover for the IGTM Soundtrack by Jim Guthrie.

In the end, we have a cascade of characters in the 6 panel disc package, a custom case with embossed characters in the IGTM blue, a new Special Edition seal that carries through all elements (the package, custom case, notebook (4 designs, randomly included)), and a poster that has both the original design from the feature & a ‘wallpaper’ of all Ed’s icon art on the other side.

So, there’s a lot in this design, lots of inspiration from great artists & great games. We look forward to people getting their box sets, looking through all the art, and trying to identify/discover all the references.

(It took Lisanne about 3 hours to figure out the first time. :))

The Box Set will be shipping early August and includes a code for a digital Special Edition.  If you preorder now, you will receive the Box Set Special Edition for $59.99 (DVD) or $69.99 (Blu-Ray).  Once the SE starts shipping, the remaining editions will be priced at $69.99 (DVD) & $89.99 (Blu-Ray). The edition is 3000 DVD & 3000 Blu-ray, and many have been spoken for.

There is more information and definitely more to say about the Special Edition, but we wanted to keep this entry somewhat digestible and manageable.

The Special Edition is something that we are very proud of and excited for.  Personally, it represents the end of a life-changing, 3-year odyssey with this film, and is likely our final word on Indie Game: The Movie.

We worked really hard on it to make it worth the wait and worth the support that you all have given the film over this time.

    We hope you like it.

    Sincerely,

    Lisanne & James

    p.s. Oh!  And tell a Friend!   :)

We had the pleasure of collaborating with some great people on this project.

The S.E. would not be what it is without the wonderful help, talent and generousity of:  All the developers who shared their stories, Jim Guthrie, Adam Saltsman, Edmund McMillen, Chris Pointon, Sara Gross, Michael Eades & the super awesome VHX team, Matt and the folks at Steam, Raymond Friesen, Elbert Bakker and Troy Giesbrecht at Handcraft Creative, Ryan, Matt and the great guys at Area5, Kert Gartner, Jason Scott & Kym Dopheide.

We'll talk more about what these awesome people have done a little later, but we could do an announcement without acknowledging their fantastic work.

    Jim Guthrie Humble Bundle

Our great friend & collaborator, Jim Guthrie (the composer behind the Sword & Sworcery soundtrack & the Indie Game: The Movie soundtrack) is launching something pretty special - a weekly humble sale of 11 of his albums!

(Did you know that Jim sings?! His latest solo alblum "Takes Time" is AMAZING. Thoughtful lyrics, masterfully produced, with lots of Jim's infectious charm. "Takes Time" was long listed for the highest prize in the land (of Canada), the Polaris Prize.)

Pay what you want. Pay anything you want to receive eleven sweet-sounding albums and a 50% off coupon for Indie Game: The Movie (Soundtrack) on vinyl.

Beat the average and he’ll also throw in Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP DRM-free and cross-platform, along with copy of Indie Game: The Movie (DRM-free download, stream or Steam code.)

It's a great chance to get the film on Steam, if you're interested in getting the Special Edition DLC on July 24th.
