    Digital Download Pre-order: Now Available

Exciting news everybody:  We are now taking digital pre-orders for the film!  You can now order a digital copy of IGTM using the Paypal option on the left hand side.  Please note that this will include only the main film itself and NOT any of the extra features included on the regular DVD or any of the special features found in the Special Edition.

A Regular or S.E. DVD Pre-order Gets You the Digital Version:

When we started this project a year ago, we knew we wanted to have a digital version of the film for people, but we weren't sure how we'd fulfill it. DVD seemed like the only option for pre-orders.

We’ve since found a solution and can now offer digital preorders.

But, now, what if you ordered a DVD version over the past year, but you'd prefer a digital version? Our solution:  You'll get both :)

All DVD and Special Edition Pre-orders sold to date and until the film’s official screening release will get a digital copy free of charge. After this date, digital copies may likely be sold separately.

    Release Dates (Tentative):

We're hoping to launch and screen Indie Game: The Movie at some festivals and a number special event screenings this Fall.

Our goal is to release the DVD, the digital download by the end of this year or early in 2012.

The Special Edition will be released in early 2012. However, those backers will not be left in the cold and will definitely receive a digital copy when the digital version / regular DVD is released.

Details on the Details of the Special Edition...

    Hey Everyone,

We recently received & responded to an email question.  We thought it's likely a common question.  So we thought we'd answer it on this site as well.

Question:  Any more news on the Special Edition details?  I know you probably get that question a lot.

Answer:  Not just yet.  But it's a completely valid question.  No worries on the ask.

Basically, we've narrowed down what is in and not in the actual film.  Which has left us with a ton of possible segments to include on the Special Edition.  We're quite tempted to start listing off the possible special edition pieces right now.  But we're going to wait until we've sat down with the cut footage again and make sure that we can indeed make a proper little piece out of it.

We plan to announce & describe a Special Edition piece or two a week starting in the summer.  We just want to make sure that what we announce is 100% going to be in the Special Edition.  And right now, we have strong ideas of that, but are not 100%.

What I can tell you, is that the Special Edition pieces, from my personal perspective, are just as interesting as the actual movie.  They are all pieces that could have been included if the film took a slightly different direction or was slightly longer.

We're excited to start announcing things.  And once we get going, there will be a lot of announcements and news coming out.  Just not quite there yet :)

    Take Care,

    James (& Lisanne)

Of course, for more info on the Special Edition, you may want to revisit this previous post.

(and of course, the Special or Reg. Edition is available for Preorder here on the site [left hand column]  :)

    The Latest On The Edit

With the exception the 2 weeks we took to film at GDC and PAX, we’ve been editing straight for the past four months.  The first two months were simply watching, organizing and notarizing the hundreds of hours of film.  In this period, there were certainly pre-existing ideas for the structure of the film, and definitely new ideas being hatched every couple of hours.  But nothing was actually being executed or put together on the editing timeline.

After everything was looked at, we then put together an initially edit plan/script.  This plan was made without 1) film runtime as a limitation and 2) without a large section of end filming yet to be done. So even though, it gave us a structure to pursue, we knew it was setting us up to make big cuts (runtime) and answer big questions (the-yet-to-be-filmed-scenes).  Both were things we were ready for.

Here’s that initial editing plan being laid out.

    Get your face in IGTM!

    Hey Everybody!

Yesterday, we watched our very first rough cut of the film - a very exciting, very strange, but in-the-end-inspiring, experience that we will write about very soon.

The building blocks are in place, we just need to make it better, slicker, faster, stronger, etc....  In short:  We're in a good place.

But, that's not why we're writing.  As part of moving the film forward and creating the visual assets needed to enhance the production, we're asking for your help.

We need/want pictures and video of you playing games as a kid :)

Got some snaps of you playing Megaman as an 7 year old?  How about your first Christmas day encounter with Link?  Even teen pics of a Doom all-nighter in front of your old PC?

Basically, photographic or even better, video/film evidence of your history with videogames is needed.

Got any nice pics?  Want to be in our movie?  We'd love to work with them.  If you're down with this idea, and would like to help us out - send them, along with written permission for us to use the material in the film to indiegamethemovie[at]me.com

Any additional inquiries can be made at that address as well.

Thanks in advance for the help!  This should be cool.
